From 21 to 30 October 2013 the London Film School presented an intensive artists’ filmmaking workshop, run by New York-based, distinguished Iranian artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat.
The Workshop was comprised of twelve participants who were selected by representatives from the arts and film sectors at the London Film School. Centered on the provided structure by Neshat, each participant produced a three-minute film based on their knowledge in the moving image and their creative skills. Furthermore, the programme contained four public events: a joint interview with Neshat and artist Isaac Julien at the Barbican Centre, a screening of Neshat’s short films at the Courtauld Institute of Art, and a screening of “Women Without Men”, concluding with a private screening of the films produced at the workshop.
This project was directed and produced by Vali Mahlouji and Kate Wilson, sponsored by Magic of Persia, the National Lottery through Arts Council England, and the Taymour Grahne Gallery in collaboration with The Courtauld Institute of Art, The Barbican and TANK TV.
